CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™
John is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ who provides comprehensive financial planning and tax planning services and has more than 25 years of experience in tax planning and finance. He holds his securities registrations with LPL Financial and is designated by the United States Treasury Department as an Enrolled Agent (EA). This designation allows him to represent his clients before the Internal Revenue Service.
John earned his Master’s Degree in Accounting and is a former adjunct faculty member at Siena College's nationally accredited School of Business. He has taught numerous accounting courses, as well as courses in corporate and personal finance. He worked for KeyCorp, Ayco Financial Planning and held management positions with Matthew Bender & Co. and Trans World Entertainment.
John earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® Designation from the Center for Fiduciary Studies®, the standards-setting body for Fi360. The AIF® designation signifies specialized knowledge of fiduciary responsibility and the ability to implement policies and procedures that meet a defined standard of care.
John also earned a Certificate in Financial Planning from Boston University and more recently, successfully completed the rigorous CFP®, Certification examination to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.
John currently serves on the Albany County Investment Policy Board, having been unanimously appointed by the County Legislature in the fall 2018. In this position, John will advise the county on strategy for making the best use of money available for investment.
John realized a life-altering experience in 2001 when he was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. He has since devoted time to establishing a support group in the Capital District for those who have had similar experiences. John is also a former Board Member of the Acoustic Neuroma Association located in Atlanta, Georgia.
John resides in Colonie with his wife, Rose, and daughters Julianna and Maria. His hobbies include reading, golf, cooking and family activities.
